Interactive Film Challenge

Placing Wales on the global map as a hub for the creation of interactive movies.

What is the Interactive Film Challenge?

Wales Interactive’s vision is to place Wales firmly on the map as an international hub for the creation of interactive movies.

The Interactive Film Challenge is developing new gameplay and revenue streams through exploring the boundaries of interactive narratives and building strategic partnerships to open opportunities to the wider creative community.

How it worked

September 2022: Wales Interactive announced a call out for writers looking to master the world of interactive storytelling or discover new genres. The aim of the opportunity was to develop and upskill new and established writers.

May 2023: Wales Interactive hosted interactive storytelling workshops. Successful applicants learned how to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling and how to take an idea and make it pitch perfect.

Summer 2025: Dark Rift Horror was selected to embark on a research and development (R&D) journey with Wales Interactive to create an interactive movie.

February 2024: Dark Rift Horror launched demo of their interactive movie ‘Dead Reset’.
